Stepping Stone
Create artistic mosaic stepping stones using glass and quick drying cement. In this class you will learn pattern preparation, mold preparation, cement mixing, pouring techniques and cleanup of the finished stone. Because we use quick drying cement, you will leave class with a completed stepping stone to display in your garden this spring. Mold and materials arre extra. Liquifusion Mosaic Trivet (Not Currently Scheduled)
Create a mosaic trivet without the use of grout! Liquifusion is a crystal clear polymer coating with UV inhibitors that sets to a thick, glossy and resilient coating in 24 to 48 hours (recommended for indoor use only). In this class you will design a mosaic trivet and pour the liquifusion over your design to eliminate the need to grout. The class fee includes all materials except for the glass. Introduction to Precious Metal Clay (Not Currently Scheduled)
Learn to make fine silver jewelry from a certified PMC Instructor using Precious Metal Clay (PMC). PMC looks and acts like clay and can be stamped, molded, carved and formed into your own designs. That’s where the similarity to clay ends because once it is fired in a kiln it becomes 99% fine silver. Fritography with Michael Dupille (Not Currently Scheduled)
The painterly use of crushed glass frits and powders has opened up a whole new world of artistic imagery. Anything is possible when working with small particles of glass from tight, photo-realism to loose impressionism. Working in the panel format, you will learn how to control color density, shading, soft and hard edge lines and some unique specialty looks. This three day class will focus on the principles of multiple firings to create a rich, vibrant panel piece. There will be greater understanding of the process and how to create a palette. Just imagine how you can expand these techniques to creating unbelievable wall pieces, tiles and continuous murals. As one of the early kiln working artists, Michael has pioneered this and many other glass working processes. His dynamite slide show will inspire as well as educate. Glass Painting with Peter McGrain (Not Currently Scheduled)
Peter McGrain has been working with glass for over 24 years. During this time he has handled every type of stained glass project imaginable; ranging in scope from intimate experimental panels to large-scale architectural installations. In all it has been his attention to composition and technique that have made his imagery so successful. Peter is a contributing writer for GLASS ART and GLASS CRAFTSMAN magazines and frequently travels, offering visiting artist workshops. He currently maintains an independent studio in Washington state where he creates his own experimental work as well as architectural commissions for his clients throughout the US and abroad. Traditional Glass Painting Technique
Authentic Traditional Glass Painting is a mandatory skill for any stained glass artist interested in achieving greater visual sophistication in their work. This class offers a comprehensive introduction into the various aspects of genuine glass painting techniques, including the use of traditional glass stainer’s paints, silver stains, and kiln-fired enamels. Topics include historical overview of applications and techniques, material types and their sources, with an emphasis on the techniques of tracing, matting, stippling, controlling hardness, application alternatives, studio setup and more. Vitri-Fusáille Technique (Flat-Fused Traditionally Painted Glass Tiles)
Vitri-Fusáille is a new glass term which describes the combined processes of flat glass Fusing and Traditional Glass Painting. Vitri-Fusáille is characterized by a degree of expressive, color saturated, illustrational imagery which cannot be found in other glass formats which utilize these processes. Vitri-Fusáille allows the artist an opportunity to create vivid imagery in glass without being confined by the traditional presence of interfering lead lines or fragmented compositions.

Glass art projects from functional to frivolous can now be created by drop-in hobbyists in our new Glass Fusing Center. Soldering Seminar (Not Currently Scheduled)
Learn to solder like a professional! This is a hands-on class that will help you improve your soldering skills and your ability to draw a smoother solder bead. Bring soldering tools along with a small foiled project that is ready for soldering. Minimum 4 students, maximum 8 students. |

Wire Wrapped Watch (Not Currently Scheduled)
In this class you will learn finishing and wiring techniques to compliment and complete a watch design using a fired and slumped watch band provided in the class (firing techniques will be discussed). Class fee includes one set of dichroic watch bands (to make one watch), toggle, clasp, and wire. Bring a watch face (with a spring bar, not a loop type for beaded watches) or you can purchase one the day of the class for $25. |

Beginner Stained Glass
Learn the basic techniques of stained glass in this fast-paced, four week course. In this class you will learn pattern preparation, glass cutting, and the copper foil assembly method of construction. We have a selection of glass patterns from which to choose, assuring you are able to finish your project within the four week class. Some work is required outside of class time. The class fee includes all instruction and use of studio grinders during class time. Supplies, materials and tools are extra. United Art Glass students receive 10% off tools and supplies for this class. Minimum 4 students, maximum 8 students. |
